Yoga and Wellness mini-break

includes optional guided ocean swims

These weekends are an opportunity for you to take time out of your busy life to relax and recharge, while moving your body and nourishing your soul.

During this 3 day weekend, you will be served nutritious, plant-based food, enjoy quiet time on your own, make new friends, have new experiences and regain a sense of natural calm and wellbeing.

The active parts of the weekend will be Yoga and Swimming.

There will be two Yoga sessions a day which are designed to cater for all levels, from beginners to experienced.

Maybe you've thought about giving yoga a try but haven't taken the first step yet, maybe you have been to a few classes and would like to learn more, or maybe you are experienced and would love the opportunity to immerse yourself in yoga for a weekend. Whatever your starting point, you will learn new ways to move and stretch your body with no pressure to achieve or do anything.

There will also be daily opportunities for you to join the group and take to the water in the ocean and in our swimming pool. Whether you are a nervous novice or an experienced swimmer, you will be encouraged, supported and guided and above all - it will be FUN !

More about the Yoga

The Yoga classes will be based on classic Hatha Yoga practices, and will include some meditation, breathing practices and plenty of deep relaxation.

The programme will be tailored for beginners to yoga and particularly for people who would like to give yoga a try but feel they are unable to attend regular yoga classes due to physical limitations such as injuries, stiffness, inflexibility and ageing.

We all have limitations so I teach yoga in a way that is accessible for everyone and give you practices that you can take home and continue with on your own.

Maybe you are more experienced at yoga but have got out of a regular practice. if this is you, you will still benefit from revisiting some of the grounding principles and taking this time to reconnect to yoga and making the commitment to yourself to continue.

The weekend will include workshops during which we will spend time really getting to know some of the poses/asana, learning about safe alignment and how to practice in way that supports you and your body. People often tell me that they go to regular yoga classes but are not sure if they are 'doing it right'. If this is you, come along with your questions and we will work together as a group to deepen our understanding and fine-tune our practice.

More about Ocean Swimming

On this retreat weekend, we invite you to take your yoga practice to the sea. The swims will be led by Kaye (aka YogiFish) from Leigh Swimmers who has been ‘swimfluencing’ people since 2013.

Ocean swimming dovetails beautifully with yoga: both encourage calming breathwork, create a sense of joy and vitality and build self-confidence and resilience. Plus, cold-water swimming boosts the immune system, triggers endorphins, burns more calories and reduces stress.

The swims are not about speed or distance but choosing courage over comfort and exploring waterscapes – after all, you’re almost 75% salty water!

Swimming ability: Suitable for all levels from rusty/rookie/nervous novices through to experienced ocean swimmers! Ideally, you should be able to swim freestyle for 10 minutes in a pool without stopping... or just run in, squeal, and run out.

The Food

You will be nourished by tasty and nutritious plant-based meals created by our inhouse chef including fresh juices and sourdough bread baked on the premises.

There will be three meals a day, a filling and wholesome breakfast, lunch and a two course dinner. Not to be missed - our tasty sweet treats levied mid-afternoon.

There will be limitless tea and coffee available during the day.

Whilst we try to accommodate all dietary requirements, we recommend you contact us before booking if you have any specific needs.

The weekend

Our retreats are small and intimate with a maximum of 14 people plus teachers.

There will be plenty of free time for you to relax, sleep, read a book or sit in the spa enjoying breathtaking views and awesome night skies.

We have gorgeous beaches nearby and walking tracks if you prefer to immerse yourself in nature.

You will also have the opportunity to treat yourself to a massage from our resident massage therapist. There is an additional charge for massage.

The weekend is designed to give you time to slow down and be still and yet reconnect with your physical body and understand the benefits of gentle movement and exercise.

Taking time out of your normal life can have enormous benefits, in all realms of your life - physically, mentally and spiritually.

Why not bring a friend, family member or a partner for a shared experience and create wonderful memories together.

Rachel Lee

My yoga journey spans 40 years, starting with a deep grounding in the Iyengar system and more recently in Knoff Yoga, with complimentary practice in Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yin Yoga and Scaravelli-inspired.

I have completed over 600 hours of teacher training since 2001, in Yoga, Meditation and Pranayama, achieved the Yoga Alliance 200 RYT, Knoff Yoga Foundation Certificate, Anatomy and Physiology diploma (Otago Uni) and teaching certificates in Yin Yoga and Aerial Yoga.

I believe that Yoga is for everyone and my aim as a teacher is to demystify the practice and make it accessible, fun, safe and above all, beneficial for every student regardless of their starting place.

The Iyengar approach has given me a deep understanding of the principles of alignment and this strong, intelligent and focused style of Yoga continues to influence my teaching today.

I am hugely indebted to the many talented teachers that I have been fortunate to study with and my purpose as a teacher is to pass on their knowledge and channel their unique gifts to the best of my ability.

Kaye Mueller aka YogiFish

In 2013, I spotted a guy swimming beyond the surf break, alone. I was petrified of the deep, of the shadows that lurked there, of going in over my head, of losing sight of the shore (plenty of metaphors for life right there!)

My word for that year was ‘dauntless’, so I chose courage over comfort. Gradually I began to crave the watery blues and greens, the sway of the kelp, the release of ‘endolphins’,  learning to stay in the moment, exploring underwater landscapes, relishing the soothing regularity of stroke and breath. I was hooked, line and sinker.

After years of enjoying various yoga disciplines for personal pleasure, I again chose courage over comfort and threw myself into yoga teacher training in Queenstown in early 2020. The idea of combining vinyasa flow yoga and ocean swimming evolved naturally during the lockdown. I yearned to share the pure joy of moving on land and sea and to provide experiences for others to find courage, play and peace. YogiFish was born.

"the weekend was perfect. And the foooood OMG will never forget"

"well Rachel...as far as my inaugural retreat experience goes...yours was pretty perfect for me! I loved every bit. Just the right balance of yoga, meditation, workshop time, down time, pool dip time...and GOURMET HEALTHY FOOD time. (quiet bliss to Chris) Your ‘Yoga/Meditation Mistress’ prowess was so easy to understand for a newbie like me.  You challenged me at the right degree and now I’m eager to learn more. I am already adding those devilish dolphin poses into my daily routine!"
